Do british people think they invented everything?

I was watching Top Gear on BBC and one of the host made the statement that the british invented everything. I know he doesn't actually believe the british invented everything because that would just be retarded. But he obviously thinks that the British are responible for alot of inventions. What are some of these groundbreaking british inventions?
