Is it a compliment to be told you are tall?

I get told im tall alot. I never know how to respond when somebody sas that. The other day somebody told some other kid he was tall and he said thanks. Is this what youre supposed to say? How should i respond next time? I always think of ot as a fact and not so much a complimet.
