22nd regiment (S.A.S) clothing armor etc?

In the special air service, i was wondering what clothing/armor weapons etc they would use for different operations. For example if there was a terrorist attack and they had civillian's hostage, what armor/shoes/equipment and weapons would they use. Could some one please include a detailed answer and possibly some links? Thanks! And are the navy seals as good as the sas with fighting and skill and things because i've heard the sas are slightly better? And if britain is such a small country compard to others how do we have a pretty good army, AND have probably the best special ops group in the world? Thankx :]
